Origins
Along the River
Grew up fishing the Stehekin River and alpine lakes, and never really stopped.
Flyontic is written and maintained by Jeff Wandling, a lifelong resident of the Seattle area. He grew up fly fishing the Stehekin River and Trapper Lake, and spent years hiking throughout the Cascades in search of good trout streams. He now lives near the Snoqualmie River, and is a member of the Overlake Fly Fishing Club.
Old pattern books, hand-written notes, and a lot of trial and error at the bench all shaped the tying you'll find notes about here.
Mentors
Chief among them, Bob Hayes, who taught more at the vise and on the river than any pattern book ever could.
